Julie M. Quink, CPA

Managing Principal

Julie M. Quink, CPA is the managing principal for the Firm.  She has over 25 years of experience in public accounting and 3 years of private, corporate accounting experience.

A graduate of Elms College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Ms. Quink joined the Firm in 2011. She previously worked 4 years for an international accounting firm and 17 years for a medium-sized local firm.

Ms. Quink is involved in the accounting and consulting aspect of the practice and manages engagements of various size and complexity. She also performs services relative to forensic and fraud related engagements.

She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Professional Women's Chamber of Greater Springfield and the Estate Planning Council of Hampden County where she serves on the board of directors and as the Treasurer of the organization.

Ms. Quink is a member of the Board of Directors of the Quaboag Hills Chamber of Commerce and a member of the School Committee of Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School. She is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Richard F. Burkhart, CPA

Principal

Richard F. Burkhart, CPA, is a co-founder of the Firm. He has over 35 years of experience in public accounting.

He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts.

Mr. Burkhart is involved in the accounting, financial reporting, tax planning and compliance aspect of the practice. In addition, he provides consulting and client representation before taxing authorities. His experience encompasses various industries and clients of various size and complexity.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Burkhart is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Food Bank of Western Mass, having served as its Treasurer and Chairing the Finance and Audit Committees. He is a member and chair of the Redevelopment Authority of West Springfield, MA and the past President of the Rotary Club of West Springfield. Mr. Burkhart is a volunteer and Board member of Wright Flight of Western Mass.

Salvatore J. Pizzanelli (Sam), CPA, JD, PFS is a co-founder of the Firm. He has over 30 years of experience in public accounting.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from American International College and his Juris Doctorate from Villanova University.

Mr. Pizzanelli is involved in the accounting, tax and estate planning areas of the practice. In addition, he provides a wide array of services to closely-held corporations, partnerships and individuals, including litigation support.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Bar Association.

Mr. Pizzanelli is a member of the Board of Directors of Cambridge Credit Counseling Corp., East Longmeadow Tennis Association, Inc. and Honor Conor, Inc.

Thomas R. Pratt, CPA, J.D.

Principal

Thomas R. Pratt, CPA, JD is a principal of the Firm. He has over 40 years of experience in public accounting.

He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from American International College and a degree of Juris Doctor from Western New England University.

Mr. Pratt is involved in the accounting, financial reporting, tax planning and compliance aspect of the practice. His experience encompasses various industries and clients of various size and complexity.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Estate Planning Council of Hampden County.

Mr. Pratt is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Monson Savings Bank, serving on its Audit Committee. He is a former Chair and Board member of Loomis Communities.

Deborah J. Penzias, CPA

Principal

Deborah J. Penzias, CPA is a principal for the Firm. She has over 30 years of experience in public accounting.

Ms. Penzias graduated from The State University of New York at Oswego with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Ms. Penzias joined the Firm in 1998. She previously worked at a medium sized firm in Rockville Centre, New York for 13 years prior to her relocation to Western Massachusetts.

Ms. Penzias services a diverse client base and is involved in the accounting, consulting and tax areas of the practice, managing engagements of various size and complexity.

She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Estate Planning Council of Hampden County and the Professional Women's Chamber of Greater Springfield.

Ms. Penzias served on the board of directors of Beit Ahavah, the reform synagogue of greater Northampton.  She has also served on the board of directors of Lander Grinspoon Academy and was a member of the finance committee.  Additionally Ms. Penzias enjoys playing tennis, cycling, hiking, most fitness activities and traveling.

David N. Gervais, CPA

David N. Gervais, CPA

David N. Gervais is a Manager for the Firm. He has over 20 years of experience in public accounting and prior to that, 11 years in the private sector as an auditor and financial analyst.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Bentley College and his Master of Science degree in Taxation from the Barney School of Business, University of Hartford.

Mr. Gervais concentrates his services in all aspects of the tax practice and manages engagements of various size and complexity. He also performs services relative to forensic and fraud related engagements.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Gervais is a member of the West Springfield Lions Club and currently serves as a member of its Board of Directors and Treasurer. He is also a committee member of Massachusetts Lions Multiple District 33 Constitution and By-Laws Committee. He is a Past District Governor of Massachusetts Lions District 33-Y.

Caron A. LaCour

Caron A. LaCour is a Manager for the Firm. She has over 25 years of experience in public accounting working with a variety of clients.

Ms. LaCour graduated from Western New England University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Ms. LaCour joined our firm in 2013.  Previously she worked with several other local accounting firms in the greater Springfield area.

She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Professional Women's Chamber of Greater Springfield.

Ms. LaCour is licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut.

Cheryl Ann Montone, CPA

Cheryl Ann Montone, CPA

Cheryl Ann Montone is a Manager for the Firm. She has over 25 years of experience in public accounting.

Ms. Montone graduated cum laude from American International College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She joined the firm in 1987. Previously, she served in the United States Air Force, primarily in the Electronic Security Command stationed at Hahn Air Base, Germany.

Ms. Montone specializes in small business set up and consulting services with an expertise with QuickBooks accounting software. She is involved in the accounting, financial reporting, and tax planning and compliance aspect of the practice. Her experience encompasses various industries and clients of various size and complexity.

She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.

She is an avid bowler and is the former Secretary/Treasurer of the Tuesday Night Mixed Bowling League at AMF Chicopee Lanes.

Luis N. Martinez

Luis N. Martinez, CPA

Luis N. Martinez joined Burkhart, Pizzanelli, P.C. in January 2016 as a staff accountant.  He earned his Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Bentley University.  He is a CPA with over 16 years of experience in public accounting.  Prior to joining the firm, he worked for a regional firm in Worcester, Massachusetts for 15 years.  His experience includes primarily providing accounting, auditing, financial reporting and tax services for small to medium sized closely held businesses in various industries. 

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Affordable Housing Association of Certified Public Accountants. 

Luis currently lives in Athol, Massachusetts and in his free time he enjoys watching all New England’s sports teams and the gym.

Joshua L. Messer, MSA

Joshua L. Messer, MSA

Joshua L. Messer is a Staff Accountant for the Firm. He has almost 5 years of experience in public accounting.

Mr. Messer earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Western New England College and his Master of Science in Accountancy from Westfield State University. He previously worked for a mid-size public accounting firm for 4.5 years.

Mr. Messer services a diverse client base and is involved in the accounting, consulting and tax areas of the practice, managing engagements of various size and complexity.

He is on the Executive Committee of the West Springfield Boys & Girls Club, Inc. as their Treasurer.

Sarah R. Lapolice, MBA

Sarah Lapolice, MBA 

Sarah Lapolice, is a Staff Accountant for the Firm.  She previously worked for an Enrolled Agent preparing tax returns and performing bookkeeping functions while earning her Bachelors of Business Administration in May of 2009 and her Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting in December of 2014, both from Elms College.

It should be noted that Ms. Lapolice graduated Magna Cum Laude and was initiated into Delta Epsilon Sigma, The National Catholic Scholastic Honor Society.

In her free time she is a singer-songwriter who has recorded three demo albums and enjoys the great outdoors.

Adam Kuzdzal

Adam Kuzdzal

Adam Kuzdzal is a Staff Accountant for the Firm and started working here as an intern in January of 2016 while completing his undergraduate degree at Elms College.  He began working for our firm full time in October of 2016.  He graduated Summa Cum Laude and was the class salutatorian in May of 2016.  Mr. Kuzdzal is currently enrolled in the University of Massachusetts, Amherst Isenberg School of Management studying for his Master of Science in Accountancy degree.

While enrolled at Elms College, Adam was a three-year captain of the cross-country program and had the ability to train, lead and compete with athletes from various parts of the world.  Adam also participated in community service projects with his team throughout his career volunteering for many organizations such as Junior Achievement and the Epilepsy Foundation.  He also participated in a week-long service trip in Orland, Maine at the H.O.M.E. community before beginning his 2015 season.

In his spare time, Adam enjoys playing tennis and improving his golf game.

Elaine M. Cortis is a Staff Accountant and Bookkeeping Supervisor for the Firm. She has over 25 years of experience in public accounting.

Ms. Cortis graduated from North Adams State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She also has two Associate degrees from Holyoke Community College in Accounting and Business Administration. Ms. Cortis joined the Firm in 2001.

Ms. Cortis is involved in accounting, payroll tax returns, 1099’s and tax returns for both individuals and corporations. As a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, she offers support and training for our clients.

Frances P. Dominici

Frances P. Dominici

Frances P. Dominici is the Human Resource Manager for the Firm. She has over 40 years of experience in public accounting, the first 28 of which were with an international firm in which she held various positions, ending as the Human Resource and Office Manager for the Springfield office. For the past 15 years, she has held the position of Human Resources Manager with the firm.

She graduated from Welch High School, in Welch, WVA with a concentration in Business. She has continued her education with various personnel related courses, workshops, seminars and professional development courses, including topics such as employment and labor law in Massachusetts, sexual harassment, maximizing excellence through diversity, and increasing profitability through work assignments.

Jody Goodwin

Jody Goodwin is an Office Administrator for the Firm. She has over 25 years of experience in an administrative capacity.

Ms. Goodwin joined the Firm in 1996.

Donna Clements is an office administrator for the Firm. She has over 30 years of experience in an administrative capacity.

Ms. Clements joined the Firm in 2012.
